I have noticed those plain black headed little birds all the time but never really pay any close attention to them until last month, a mama Junco decided to make her nest in my Spring Primroses pot on my front porch! I have thought she might have a nest in my camellia which was where I have been looking…Found it in my flower pot was super exciting!
Each day, I took pictures to document the little birdies growing up, and by doing so I have learned a lot about those little Juncos as they shared their daily lives with me…I hope you find the enjoyment from their stories like I have.
*The dark-eyed junco (Junco hyemalis) is a species of the juncos, a genus of small grayish American sparrows. This bird is common across much of temperate North America and in summer ranges far into the Arctic.
Apparently little did I know, Junco dad will be the one to take care of the fledged birdie(s) while mama nesting, (it’s the same with Robins as well if they are going to have second brood right away), and that is exactly what we have noticed. Here are some awesome pictures ( well not the best resolution, too bad!) of “father and baby” bonding time:

Sooooooooo adorable! Just love them!
Can’t believe only one bird survived!
My daughter cried when she learned that the other babies didn’t make it.
