Goldfinches, Yay! – Mama Jiao's Garden

If you have bird feeders, this may not seem a big deal to you, but for me saw them just in their own element was quite a treat!

I saw this couple of goldfinches a few days ago, they came to our thuja bush ( in our back yard) to collect the nest building materials, it was really cool to watch. They have all the right markings for goldfinch except the male doesn’t have black cap, maybe a younger couple or he still has his winter coat on…?

*Female is collecting spider web* *and cottonwood seeds, which have been all over.*

*He is just there for moral support and provides surveillance.*

*They flew to the big cedar trees near by, would be fun if they just settle for a nest right there in the thuja bush!* Oh well

This pair of goldfinches were foraging in our front yard, and I was in the house and saw them through the window, so the pictures are not the best, but you can still see what a beautiful couple they are.
